Prescribed Ocreotide1 mg subcutaneously every 12th hourly

500 mcg = 0.5 mg (divide mcg with 1000 to convert to mg)

Required volume = required dose \times available volume \div available dose

                            = 1 mg \times 1 ml \div 0.5 mg

                            = 2 ml

The nurse should administer 2 ml of ocreotide subcutaneously.
