Common law is the law which is derived from the decision of courts and tribunals in certain. This law is also called as judicial precedent and judge made law.
Legislature is the authpriau to make laws and pass them in the assembly.
Whenever any law is being made by the legislature it will consider the judicial decisions that were given in cases and according to that law is made. If the legislature believe that the judicial verdict or common law is satisfactory than legislature will pass a law in assembly and that law is considered for any verdicts. So legislature will make the laws by considering judicial decisions.
Some times these laws made by legislature will be either against or supportive to that common law.
Common law is also given basing on the law made by legislature in most of the cases. If there is no legislature made law than judiciary will decide the verdict on their opinion.
So common law and legislature will be like almost working together with one another.
