Answer 1.Asepsis is a condition with the absence of disease causing bacteria, viruses or any other microorganisms. It is of two types :1. Medical asepsis and 2. Surgical asepsis.

1. Medical asepsis- It is the state of being free from microorganisms by using facility practices. It is the cleaning technique to get rid of pathogens by reducing their infections or their transmission from one to the other. Practical methods are used here that include hand hygiene firstly. Use of antiseptic hand-wash, alcohol based hand rubs, use of gloves before and after treating any patient are such hygiene based practices.

2. Surgical asepsis - It is the state of absence of microorganisms within any type of invasive procedure. Sterile technique practice is used to make all the equipments and areas sterile, thereby preventing the entry of microbes into an open wound or any sterile body cavity. In this, firstly the patient and the health care personnel should be free of any contamination. All the contact surfaces the housekeeping surfaces are made sterile before every use. All the supplies including equipments, machines, containers, nursing bags, etc are also taken into consideration.

Answer 2. Body's protective mechanism of any person who is suffering from any king of infection or disease works by itself on its best to get rid of that cause. This mechanism is called the Immune system of the body.

It stars acting right from the outer layer i. e the epidermis of the skin and goes deep inside the body as per the requirement to erase out the infection. The body reactions to this procedure includes inflammatory responses , high fever, shivering, breathing issues etc.

The concerned family of that patient needs to know about these changes that will be occurring in the body of infected patient. They must react accordingly to reassure the patient from outside by cooling down the fever, treating mildly with the inflammations, etc.

Answer 3. The patient who is under treatment must be aware of every aspect of it. He/she should know that the importance of being clean and hygienic for his/her own sake. The patient must have the knowledge about the standard precautions are the basic levels of infection control. These standard precautions include basic but very important aspects as:

  • Keeping hand hygiene always.
  • Using all protective equipments like gloves, gown, masks, etc in sterile conditions.
  • Practicing the safe injection methods.
  • Safe handling of potentially contaminated equipment or surfaces in the patient environment.

All these safe steps will enhance the betterment of the patient by reducing the risk of any infection
