Jus cogens pertain to legal status that certain international crimes reach, and on the other hand the obligation erga omnes refers to the legal implications arising due to the certain characterization in crime's as jus cogens. Both these concepts are different from each other, however are still related to the law of terrorism. In regard to the consequences of recognizing an international crime in law of terrorism as jus cogens, the main question would be that such a status places obligations erga omnes upon states, or merely provides specific rights in proceeding against perpetrators of such terrorism.
