Using the Health Belief Model, identify possible perceptions of the seriousness of a given disease or condition (i.e. an STD); their susceptibility, benefits, and barriers that may explain why young adults do not engage in preventive behaviors. What are some cues to action and modifying variables that might change the behavior of the population?

Answer: The Health belief model describes the behavioral change due to the diseased condition. The STD i.e sexually transmitted disease is generally occurs in the young adults as they are more sexually active.

They are less concerned with the diseased condition may be due to lack of knowledge, negligence etc. The psychological behaviour due to diseased condition changes, but at the initial stage thy won't take any kind of precautions. They don't show seriousness towards sexually transmitted disease and hence they suffers with this condition.

Creating awareness among young adults, making them aware of the side effects as well as proper precautions that should be taken and treatment may improve the behaviour of the population.
