Sample is defined as the participants or subjects that are observed with the aim of estimating the characterstics of the entier population. Sampling theory states that the sampling for any study can be done by two methods that is complete eneumeration or sample survey. Sampling theory is referred to as defining the population through a group or sample with characterstic relevant for tbe study.

There are many different forms of sampling techniques used such as randomizes sampling, snow ball sampling, probability sampling etc. In nursing researching sampling plays a crucial role. It helps in selecting the group to specify a large population for the study and also proves to be cosg effective and reliable.

The example of sampling theory used in nursing research is as follows-

Quantitative researches usually use probability sampli g as these researches make assumptions about the claims.

Use of randomized sampling to select the participants for the primary researches in nursing.
