  • Use of steroids,NSAIDS
  • Inadequate exercise
  • Polycystic kidney disease

3.The focused assessment for postoperative abdominal surgery are

  • Bowel sounds by auscultation (most important assessment to rule out returning if the function and to proceed further
  • Inspection of the site by redness ,tenderness ,swelling ,leakage, oozing or discharge (to rule out infection)
  • Measure the pain level

4.Peritonitis:the inflammation of the abdominal lining

Cause:

  • Liver failure or cirrhosis of liver
  • Renal failure
  • Pancreatitis
  • Diverticulitis
  • Injury
  • Surgery
  • Abdominal infection
  • General infection affecting the intestinal organs
  • Perforated bowel
  • Pelvic inflammatory disease
  • Tumor

Pathophysiology

The etiological factors will affect the peritoneal lining and change its nature by turning it turbid. The continuous perfusion will lead to inflammation and overtime the peritoneal cavity is filled with fluids leading to abdominal swelling ,decreasing the appetite, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea in the gastrointestinal tract and this affects the renal function leading to decreased urine output ,fever and other associated problems.
