loss of body water, poor sucking reflex, inability to digest nutrients or hemolysis of red blood cells?

A newborn can lose weight in the immediate postnatal period due to insensible water loss from the body. The reason for this is mostly because of evaporation of water through skin and respiratory tract. Moreover, this water loss can not be balanced by breastfeeding, as they are not able to consume sufficient amount of milk during the initial stage of life.
