Describe the four main contributors to an individual’s metabolism?  In your opinion, is one more important than the others in regard to weight gain/ loss/ maintenance?  Why or why not?

Metabolism is the collective term for all biochemical reactions taking place in body to carry out normal functioning. Four main contributors to metabolism are resting metabolic rate, physical activity, calorie intake and muscle mass.

resting metabolic rate is calories required to carry out metabolism of body when it is at rest.

physical activity is routine activities of daily living by an individual. More the activity, more the metabolic rate.

muscle mass also determine metabolic rate. Muscle needs more energy to function than fats. So more you have muscle, more energy you need to exist

Diet affects metabolism rate as rate depends on type of food taken.

its diet which is more important as there is less control on other contributors. But one can control diet to have weight gain or loss
