Answer #1

The dose of drug is 50mg

Plasma concentration C1 = 7.5mg/l

Plasma concentration C2 = 12mg/l

Volume of Distribution (L) = Amount of drug in the body (mg) / Plasma concentration of drug (mg/L)

V1 = 50mg/ 7.5mg /l

= 6.6L

V2 = 50mg/12mg/l

= 4.1L

    Pharmacokinetics problem. please show work. A drug is reported to have substantial drug distribution and bi-phasic drug elimination following a single 75 mg intravenous bolus dose to a group of healthy adult patients. You have determined the following variables for this system: Parameter Value 4.3 (mg/L) | 12.7 (mg/L) 10.8024 (hr) 0.3415 (hr) 0.3996 (hr-1) 0.0585 (hr) 0.6858 (hr) kio What is the volume of the central compartment? A Phase 1 clinical trial reported that drug elimination following a single intravenous bolus dose was biphasic with drug concentrations described by the following equation: C(t)=163.3 (μg/L) × e-0.8066 hr-1 × t + 22.2 (μg/L) × e-0.0564 hr-1 × t Assume drug elimination occurs from both the central and peripheral compartments. What is the terminal elimination half-life of this drug? NOTE: Please provide your answer in units of hours (hr). Do not include the units in your answer.

    You are asked to work with a team of healthcare professionals to review the emergency medications used in a code blue. One medication, atropine, is often administered as a single intravenous bolus dose. While reviewing the pharmacokinetics of atropine, you identify that atropine has an elimination half- life of 2.7 hours and a volume of distribution of 370 L. Your hospital protocols also suggest atropine is administered as a 1 mg intravenous injection and that teh duration of resuscitation efforts...

    Please show work. A 86.5 kg patient has just received a single 500 mg oral dose of an antibiotic. This antibiotic has a 90% oral bioavailability, 8.6 hour elimination half-life, and a 1.1 hour absorption half-life. The drug literature states that the population volume of distribution is 1.1 L/kg for this medication. A blood sample was collected at the maximum drug concentration and reported to be 5.916 mg/L. What is the patient-specific volume of distribution of this antibiotic in this...

    7. Smokers are known to have about 50% higher CL than nonsmokers for theophylline. If the average observed AUC after administration of 300 mg IV theophylline in nonsmokers is 100 mg.hr/L, what is the expected AUC in smokers after administration of the same 300 mg dose? Theophylline undergoes linear pharmacokinetics 2. After administration of a single 400 mg dose of a drug, a linear plot of the serum concentration-time prorile on a semi-log graph paper showed a y-intercept of 1mg/mL...

    (26 points) Kineties of an Antiviral Drug. In 2016, Nature reported the discovery of a small molecule (GS-5734) that exhibited antiviral activity against the Ebola virus in rhesus monkeys (Nature, 2016, 331.381-385). That drug, now called remdesivir, is drawing renewed attention as a possible treatment for COVID-19. In the original study, the drug was administered by intravenous injection, 10 mg of GS-5734 per kg body weight of the rhesus monkey. A. (6 points) What's the typical body weight of a...
