16 . The volume of distribution of a drug is the proportionality constant between the amount of drug in the body and the plasma concentration of the drug:

where Vd is the volume of distribution, X is the amount of drug in the body at a particular time, and Cp is the plasma drug concentration at that time. In other words, the volume of distribution is the volume that drug would occupy if it were present throughout the body at the plasma concentration.

If a drug is bound extensively to plasma proteins (i.e., fup is very small), the volume of distribution is approximately equal to the volume of plasma water or about 50 ml/kg of body weight

18. The answer is 12.5%

Half life is 24 hours.

So initially 100%

After 24 hours 50%

Then 24+24 = (48) hrs 25%

After 24+24+24 = (72) hours 12.5% .
