Antineoplastic drugs prevent, inhibit the development of neoplasm. it used to treat cancer as a another chemotheray agent.
children:
drug name:
vincristine, cyclophosphamide, carboplatin, cisplatin, topotecan
Indications:
Retinoblastoma, acute lymphoblastic leukemia, non-hodgin lymphoma, leukemia, brain tumor, germ cell tumor.
dose: dosage differ as per BSA<0.6m2 based on height and weight.
Pharmocokinetic variables:
Pharmocokinetic profile differ from children and adults. Gastric Ph is neutral at birth, drug formulation can differ in children intestinal fluid compostion and gut transmit times affect drug dissolution.
Adverese efects:
tiredness, neasea, vomiting, hariloss, contipaiton, skin changes, pain, fertility, loss of appitide, mouth soreness, low blood count.
Adults:
drug name:
Daclitaxel, docetaxel, dasatinib,lapatinib, cetuximab
indications:
Sqamuscell carcinoma, colorectal cancer, anemia, cutaneous t cell lymphoma, acute lymphoblastic leukemia, gastric cancer, non-Hodgkins lymphoma, multiple myeloma.
Dose:
drug and its dosage differ for each adult as per weight and height and BSA.
Pharmacokinetic variables:
changes in gastric ph vary the impact on antineoplastic drugs.
Adverse effects: Infection, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, whole body pain, fertility.
Older adults:
Drug name: cyclophosphamide, methotrexate, 5-fluorouracil
Indications: It is the same as adults they also need different neoplasmic status.
Dose: Dosage using BSA considerably.
Pharmacokinetic variables: As per physiologic gastric Ph status older adults organ functional system it varies.
Adverse effects: Alopecia, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, anemia, infection, neutropenia.
Pregnancy:
Alkaglating agent and taxanes that target both pregnant women and the fetus, physiological changes like low or high hepatic functions, altered renal excretion, altered gastrointestinal function, plasma protein binding influence by a pharmacologic agent. drug administration of gestational age critical for some drug use that causes adverse effects. Antineoplastic drugs should avoid fetal risk and maintain efficacy for treating pregnant women.
Aging reduces the physical function with multiorgan that influences pharmacokinetics variations and drug interaction. comorbid illness, progressive sensorial deprivation, slow cognition associated with aging.
