In Fall, 2017, the FDA proposed extending the compliance date for new Nutrition Facts label requirements to January 2020. The proposed rule was published and open for public comment on October 2, 2017. Review the proposed rule and comment on whether you agree or disagree with the proposed compliance date extension. The Food and Drug Administration(FDA) is an agency of United states and also it is an agency of health and human services department.It mainly deals with the health care and development of biological products such as vacccines,cosmetics and products that deals with the treatment of allergies.

In order to support the healthy diet FDA have proposed some rules to extend nutrition facts label compliance dates.These will make easier to know about the scientific information about the food.

According to FDA the following are some changes that have taken place in the labeling the food items .Those are:

1.Servings:the number of serving per intake should be kept in bold type letters.For example "6 servings or 1/2 cup" like this the serving size can be mentioned over the food product.

The servings should be in bold type because which will be easily noticable and the person who is eating will be aware of the amount that he is eating.

I agree with the extension of the compliance dates because it gives a chance for the manufacture to improve their stability.

2.Calories:the amount of calories that are obtained by that particular food item should be shown in longer and bolder type."400 k.cal I 100gms or 300 k.cal from 50gms".

3.Fats:the total calories obtained by the total intake of fat is consumed by the person may not be necessary since the total amount of fat that is consumed is important.

4.Added sugars: now added sugars need to be added in the labeling.The sugar might be added during the time of packing or at the time of processing also,whatever the timing is but still the amount added sugars should be notified.some times sugars may be added in fruit concentrates also,that also need to be informed.

The information regarding the added sugars is very important,so that the individual will become conscious about the sugar intake.

5.Nutrients: all the other nutrients which are obtained by the food can also be included.for example:if a food contains vitamins,minerals,sodium,calcium,iron etc can be added along with the daily value.

the information regarding the nutrients will makes an individual to have clear knowledge on the amount of nutrients intake from the particular food.

6.Foot note: The foot note includes the daily value.At the bottom of each label the information about the percentage of daily value can be assessed.

-for certain products which include more than a serving of food manufacturer can give dual columns where they can mention about the k.cal that are provided with each sitting.

So better to follow the changes in the labeling pattern according to FDA which helps to maintain easier healthy diet.
