EHR refers to the "electronic health records" which means that all the health records including diagnosis, treatments received, investigations done or the results and reports of an individual throughout his life is compiled and made this report. All these reports related to the patient's health needs to be brought and put together in order to form a solitary and uninterrupted document used to help the person maintain a life related safari.
Interoperability refers to the ability to exchange of the data or information between different departments or systems and to ultimately use it wisely. It permits the betterment in the flow of work, decreases the ambivalence, and enhances the quality of care provided to the patients and which is done by delivering the right information about the right patient at right time and to the right physician. Importance:
It is very important to have complete and smooth interoperability in order to achieve the promise of electronic health records, enabling the patient, to lead a better coordinated patient care and the lowering of the health costs. It will help the physicians understand about the patient's past as well as present history and the communication about the patient among different departments. Whenever an individual gets sick, he is taken to a hospital and a single paper report is given to the person everyone he visits a doctor. The paper he receives will not be guaranteed to be there forever with the patient as well as the file will not be maintained as promptly by the health care team. If a patients all the detail is present in the electronic health records then the physicians in future will come to know about everything that has happened to him throughout his life cycle with just a click and will be able to provide an accurate diagnosis for the patient. It will be a means of communication between different physicians from the past to the present explaining about the individuals scenario of his health status. Not only physicians but all the health care providers will know and understand their duty towards the individual and what he had been through in his life and health. It will also save time, and energy of the people and will avoid the long process of the history collection. The future physicians or the health care providers who gets the data of the patient's will be able to provide a proper and continuous care as well as will be able to identify the precipitating factor of the patient's condition. The patient will not have trouble in taking various examinations again and again and that he will be able to monitor his fluctuating bodily conditions. The patient will be able to provide the details about his condition to different physicians.
Therefore the interoperability used in the EHR is very useful and important to make the life or the people as well as the health care providers easy and also there will be a building of good relationship and communication between different health care teams.
