The two selected worldviews and definition are from Jean Watson “Philosophy and Science of Caring” and Sr. Callista Roy “Adaption Model”.

Jean Watson defines health as “health is consciousness; human environmental energy field. Phenomenal field unitary consciousness: unbroken wholeness and connectedness of all” (Shelly & Miller, 2006) meaning that the body is connected to all around us and self-heals through-out and inner spirit, self-caring person that nurture, understand and assists its body is a fully foundational integrated self, using methods such as reflection and meditation. “Health is defined as an elevated level of overall physical, mental, and social functioning; a general adaptive-maintenance level of daily functioning; and the absence of illness, or the presence of efforts leading to the absence of illness” (Jean Watson Theory).

Sr. Callista Roy defines health as “a state and process of being and becoming integrated and whole that reflects person and environmental mutuality” (Shelly & Miller, 2006) meaning that we are biological, psychologically and socially connected with each other as part of one integrated system. Aside from these two definitions I would define health as a combination of everything around us that helps us to be free from being ill. Health is a state of complete physical ,mental social and spiritual well being and not merely the absence of disease .
