ESSAY ON URINE STRIP :

Urine strip test is also known as dipstick test is one of the diagnostic tool used to identify changes in patients urine in urinalysis and to detect disease conditions like diabetes mellitus, kidney disorders, ketone bodies and performing urine analysis to detect proteins,hemoglobin, bilirubin, acetone, nitrate, leukocytes,specific gravity, pH levels, presence of infectious organisms in urine. The urine strip mainly consists of 6 to 10 reagents which react or change their color when immersed in a urine sample. After 120 seconds the test results will appear based on the test. Each strip consists of paper with chemicals on it so that when the strip is immersed in urine sample it reacts with the chemical and changes its color.

THE FOLLOWING DISEASE CONDITIONS ARE IDENTIFIED USING URINE STRIPS :

* Urinary tract infections

* Diabetes mellitus

* Kidney diseases

* Urinary tract infections

* Liver diseases

* Blood disorders

Mostly the urine strips are used to identify the metabolic disorders that is diabetes mellitus. The color changes on the pad of urine strip indicates either positive or negative results. The results in a positive changes indicate +1 +2 +3 +4 readings indicating the increased level of blood glucose in the urine. Many brands are manufacturing urine strips , each strip shows its results based on their brand and results of test.

LIMITATIONS OF URINE STRIP TEST :

* Most of the time urine strip tests are not correct and may give wrong test results

* If the sample is not collected properly from the patient the results may be inaccurate
