Imagine some of the issues that may require you, as a health care professional, to recall information in the Patient’s Bill of Rights and use it as the basis for your actions.For this assignment, you will post: What you would do if faced with the scenarios below. 1. Which component/s of the Patient’s Bill of Rights addresses the scenario? Write them out.
2. Write what you would say to the patient and/ or do for the patient in this situation, and why.

#1. A patient has been denied a medication by his insurance company, which states that a substitute medication must be used. The physician who prescribed the medication insists he will not accept a substitute. In regard to the newly enacted Affordable Care Act, what do you discuss with the patient with regard to his rights?
#2. A patient states that the physician she just saw was new to her and she has no idea who it was, nor why she was seen by that physician. She is uncomfortable with the diagnosis and advice given by the physician. What do you do, taking the AHA Patient’s Bill of Rights into consideration?
#3. A patient states that his insurance company has denied coverage for his treatment, even though his physician recommends this treatment as offering the best possible outcome for the patient. In regard to the newly enacted Affordable Care Act, what do you discuss with the patient with regard to his rights?
#4. A patient is already slightly sedated prior to surgery in a small surgical suite. Legal paperwork (consent) is never signed after sedation! The surgeon is participating in a study and forgot to have the paperwork signed to include this patient in the study. She hands you the paperwork and directs you to have the patient sign the forms, and will not change in any way the surgery being performed on the patient. It will just allow her to collect data from the surgery outcomes. What do you do, taking the AHA Patient’s Bill of Rights into consideration?

# 5. A surgical technical at a WA State hospital exposed patient to hepatitis and HIV when he used surgical syringes for administering drugs to himself and then returned the used syringes to surgical supply. What do you think and or do taking the AHA Patient’s Bill of Rights into consideration?

# 6. Sue Jones, a 62-year-old patient who has had cancer for over 5 years and is continuing to receive chemotherapy and radiation therapy. She is on oxygen and continues to smoke. What do you do and or think taking the AHA Patient’s Bill of Rights into consideration?

1) Prescription drug coverage. That is the patient have the right to get the prescribed drug.

2) patient have the right to choose the provider who renders health care for them. So if the patient is uncomfortable with the present physician he or she can choose the care of physician as they wish.

3) according to affordable Care act the patient has the right to receive preventive and wellness services and chronic disease management. So the patient has the right to receive the treatment as offering best possible outcome of patient.

4) Right of informed consent. If the surgen wants to collect data of surgery outcome, conscent should be obtained before seating the patient. Otherwise it seems to be illegal.
