Emergence of technological developments in health sector have saved many more lives. Each and every day,new researches are going on in the health sector. Now the the health sector reached upto the level of conducting surgeries by the robots.Artificial intelligence gaining more and more popularity.
In my personal experience, I have seen many examples where the quality of life is improved by employing health technologies.I briefly explain such kind of an example. My one of the close relative was diagnosed diabetes mellitus in his 40s.He started oral hypoglycemic drugs, but he was not following a low sugar diet. Then his doctor prescribed him for insulin at higher dose not at all following a diabetic diet. His fasting blood sugar level may sometimes rise upto 250mg/dl and post prandial blood sugar upto 400.Complications were started to appear. Also doctor prescribed an elevated dose of insulin daily. At that time, insulin has started to gain popularity. And he bought insulin pump.
Insulin pump
It is a medical device attached to human body which releases rapid acting insulin according to blood glucose level.Usually it can be attached to waist, abdomen, near to the breast etc.Insulin reservoir, insulin monitor and tubings are the parts of the device. The instrument itself serially monitor blood glucose level and release required amount of rapid acting insulin subcutaneously. This may eliminate repeated insulin injections. It acts independently and the patient can have an uninterrupted and quality life. But insulin pump can be used only in motivated patients who are clearly aware about the functioning of the device. And patient himself have to refill the insulin in the pump as soon as it emptied. One of the important advantage is its expense. It is very costly.
How the insulin pump improve the quality of life of diabetic patients?
Insulin pump is an important technological innovation in the health sector. It enabled the patients to eliminate routine insulin injections. The patients with insulin pump can have a free and quality life as that of other persons. If the patient had missed an injection,it would be elevate blood sugar level to higher. But patients with pump has no such problems, because the the device itself manage all the affairs. This may give the patients much confidence and follow a regular life without fears of complications.
