Hospitalised clients are prone to development of pressure injuries. Australian Standards for Safety and Quality stress the importance of pressure injury prevention in hospitalised clients.
What causes pressure injury? List down at least 4.

Pressure ulcer,decubitus ulcer or bed sore happens as result of prolonged pressure on the body against its surface.

The main causes of pressure injury are

• Impaired mobility or comatose patient cannot change their position by self, when they lie for for prolonged of time in th same position,pressure occurs> decreased blood supply >redness>tender>skin peel (ulcer)
• Post surgery :The surgical part (usually lower limb) are little difficult to move or align after a surgery due to pain and fear,this leads to skin peel and ulcer
• Chronic condition like diabetes ,in case of a infection or injury,vascular disease the skin are highly prone for pressure injury
• Poor nutrition in the diet and severe dryness can lead to erosion of the upper layer of the skin and causing pressure injury or ulcer
