Promotion of health and educations to promote it is very much essential as it means to prevent ourselves from getting any kind of disease conditions at all.
There are various different factors that influences the process of health promotion/education. They can be:
1. Physical barrier:
It can be:
- blindness
- dumbness
- deafness
- not suitable or not accessible physical environment
- presence of bad attitude of population towards physically disabled people.
- unavailability of the proper health services and health care in all the areas and to all the people
- the pathway to the healthcare centers maybe very worst or bad (in cases of Indian scenario) from the rural areas
- lack of proper transportation facility for the people
- lack of presence of proper equipment for the proper health assessment and diagnosis.
2. Psychological barrier:
It includes:
- mental retardation
- mental disorders
- mentally challenged
- fear of healthcare provider
- unwanted knowledge of people regarding different health status
- mental weakness
- various internal thoughts regarding the health condition
- fear of getting identified with disease
3. Social barrier and cultural barriers:
It includes:
- communication problems
- norms and values of society
- physically and mentally challenged people are not accepted in the society
- interpersonal relationship with the people of society
- cultural norms like not allowing females to go out of the house etc
- cultural practices where females are not allowed to eat healthy food
4. Spiritual barrier:
It includes:
- not allowing to take the ill person to the hospital rather thinking it to be spiritually affected
- taking I'll people to the temples and church for treatment
- various fastings and starvation to impress god
5. Emotional barrier:
It includes:
- emotional instability
Intervention to overcome this:
- the health assessment or whole body check up should be made mandatory to the entire population every 6 monthly.
- the Government should provide concession on the health related expenditures.
- giving health education to individual, family as well as society regarding the health promotion and disease preventions.
- involving women of all the societies in health promotion education as they are the caregiver in their respective households.
- identify the vulnerable groups and provide the health assessment on weekly basis
- the hospitals or health care centers should be made in all the district and villages so that it can be easily accessible by all the population.
- all the equipment used and present in all the healthcare centers should be checked for its availability
- to provide proper emotional support to the people
