Write what the parent can expect from a 1month old infant that, example You will teach the parent about nutrition, sleep, growth, development, safety and the nurse's role in health promotion.

1 Month old infant:

Nutrition: Breast feeding is the only source of nutrition for the baby.Inform parents that breast milk contains more nutrients than supplementary feeds and have 80% of water.So ask them to avoid giving additional feeds and water for the baby.Don't give any feeds other than breast milk.Provide feeding on demand or else give every 2 hours for nearly 20 minutes period.After each feeding make the baby in the upright position and perform burping.

Sleep:The baby can sleep for 16-18 a day.

Growth and development:The baby in a one month period gain nearly 900-1000 g or regains it birth weight.

Now the baby see closer objects or attractive objects.

Baby listens to the parents voice or attracting sounds.

Baby moves limbs in a active way.

He will identify his mother by the smell.

so the visual senses gets improvement in one month.

He can turn his head to the sides.

Safety:

Keep baby away from harmful objects.

Don't keep any sharp objects,hot things near to baby.

crying is the only way of communication.so res[pond to baby's cry.Sometimes the baby can cry due to any pain or due to discomfort.It should be identified and immediately resolved.

Health promotion:

Induce the baby senses helps to develop the nervous system.

Administer vaccines to the baby.

Teach parents about the importance of immunizations and schedule pattern.

Teach about proper diapering .

Teach about bathing technique and how to maintain cleanliness in the baby.Thus the infection can be avoid.

Still baby is new to world hence keep baby with the mother and develop parent -child bonding.

These are the things the parents can expect from one month old infant.
