Critically ill patient refers to the patient who are at a very high risk of getting potential life threatening situations and requires a constant medical and nursing care.
In order to promote overall wellness in the family with a critically ill member we have to fulfill certain criteria. They are as follow:
1. We have to identify the potential threat in the family
2. Intervention should be made not only on the patient level but as well as family and social level for the patient as well as the family memebers
3. Providing of psychological and emotional support to both the patient as well as the family memebers are very much required inorder to cope with the situation
4. Identify the coping mechanism of the family memebers
5. Try to avoid things or activities in the which will disturb the patient's improvement in the condition
6. Provide health educations regarding the patient's condition as well as other related topics in order to make the family memebers understand the situation faced by the patient
The health beliefs that I would ask the patient's family are:
- spiritual related believes which has been practiced in the house
- the home remedial that are frequently used in order to treat few small diseases in the family
- the health practices which are being practiced in the house to stay healthy
- the food habits that are used by the family memebers
- any cultural practices or believes followed by the patient and the family memebers
- the timing of the meal taken by the family members
