Vitamin C also called ascorbic acid is a water solube vitamin. It acts as a reducing agent thus helps in absorbing especially non heme iron in GI tractand enable its mobilization from storage.

ii) heme iron is better absorbed than non heme iron.( True )

Heme iron is easily absorbed in the body therefore it is a large source of dietary iron.

iii) vegetarian needs less iron than non vegetarian.( False )

Both vegetarian and non vegetarian requires iron in diet. Because vegetatian consume the less absorbable non heme iron.

iv) heme iron comes from plant sources and non heme iron comes from animal sources. ( False )

Because heme iron comes from animal sources such as meat , poultry, fish etc. and non heme iron comes from plant sources like vegetables.

v)iron is not recycled or stored so must be obtained daily from the diet. ( False )

Iron is recycled everyday in our body and stored in the form of heme protein.
