Answer #1

1.Based on what you observed, what leadership skills should you, as Masaya’s preceptor, a model for your fellow coworkers to promote his acceptance into the work-group or team.

I would like to act as a model for my coworkers. I should develop certain leadership skills of effective communication, the motivation of staff members, having trustworthiness on staff members, being responsible for my position, and to be flexible. I accept and promote the group work for an effective outcome by accepting the opinions of coworkers. Working together makes to know the sense and knowledge of each member of the team and to achieve the goals. Further continuing education in my area of expertise brings respect to my profession. So as a leader, I should guide and support the coworkers to maximize the team effort.

2. Does incivility seem to be an issue in the scenario?

While analyzing the scenario, there is workplace incivility. The staff are not bothering about the coworker and avoiding the group work. Staff is not respecting individual personal privacy. Even though Masaya has said that he left alone his wife in his home country, the staff are ignored and make him to be busy on those particular dates. Some staff gossiped of Masaya's personal life. It is unintentional and against the Organizational culture. This shows the disrespectful and irresponsible behavior of the staff.

3..Describe any common themes you discovered among the article, the video and the Civility Index

Placing rude comments on coworkers, criticizing the personal life of others, ethical joking, insulting personal integrity is unethical to the workplace and against the Law. Everyone should be equally treated and provide respect and dignity. seniority and position are to guide and support the members who work under them and not to shame them. It is unethical to any profession. The workplace environment should provide safety to the working staff.

4. Do you think delegation played a part in this issue?

Proper delegation of work is important in every organization. Here, more workers are assigned to one staff member and make him be more stressed. The nurse leader should delegate the work based on the individual ability and capacity and it should not affect the clinical practice. Everyone should take responsibility for their delegated task and teamwork should be collaborated to share the work.
