1.a)Some of the nursing intervention for a client diagnosed with Sleep apnoea and receiving CPAP are

  • Monitor the patient to get the baseline data of the vitals and prompt necessary changes to make patient comfortable
  • Assess the patients ability to breathe by self ,so that the CPAP can act only as a supportive device to breathe
  • Health educate about the basic mechanism of the machine ,its purpose of usage,duration,any discomfort, to relieve patient anxiety
  • Provide skin care and regular assessment, because patient may develop skin peeling at the nasal bridge ,if the mask is applied tightly
  • Provide enternal feeding as per order
  • Assess for potential complications

b)The following changes or observations has to be reported to an RN

  • When the patient is experiencing difficulty to breathe,tachypnea ,decreased oxygen level,restless and anxious
  • When there is an improper synchronization
  • If patient is unresponsive
  • When Fio2 level are increased
