Answer #1

There are 7 school of thoughts

1.Structuralism and functionalism

2.Gestalt psychology

3.Behaviorism

4.Psychoanalytic school of thought

5.Humanistic school of thought

6. Cognivitism

7.A word from very well

i would like to explain behaviorism in my work area.i would like to give an example of behavioural change observed in my sub ordinate.

I work as health officer at a primary health center.i have 2 auxillary nurse midwife who work under me and i need to have a check on them.out of these two staff one female worker doesnt have interest to work.when questioned about the pending work, she gives 1000s of reasons.so me and my medical officer decided to solve this issue.luckily she was sanctioned an incentive of 10000 rupees.we didnot tell her about this and we told her that if she finishes the work in time and accurately she will be given a prize amount.we know that she is worthy but lazy to work.when we showed her a hope of getting extra amount, she started working on her gaps.to our surprise she finished all her work in just 5 days.because we said that she will get the amount only when she does it accurately ,she did it.there was nothing in her work which needed correction.we were happy to see her other side.we had a meeting and everybody praised her saying that she did a fabulous job.till here everything was going according to our plan.we gave the amount and we told her that all this was just to get best out of her.

and now our major concern was will she work properly for the next month or not.but oneday she walked in to my room and said-mam i really felt very proud when u all praised me.that made me happy and i realised that all these days i behaved in a wrong way, sorry for that.from now i will definetely give my 100% she said.and i was really happy that she changed.she got the best employee award on the independence day (aug 15th).kudos to her.

here praising her work means that her work got a recognition and that is what motivated her to change her behaviour.

i think this technique works.

****there are other methods also like reward system, continuous feedback, positive reinforcement, non punitive discipline etc

back in time when working in a nursing college our administration used to threaten students who were irregular to classes saying that they would cut their internal marks if they do not attend the classes regularly...that also used to work in few cases but i think this positive efforts bring about long lasting positive behavioural changes.because here the person comes to know his mistake, positive reinforcement is provided and hence it is easy for him to work on it.
