Childhood obesity is directly linked to Type II Diabetes as it leads to insulin resistance. Substances involved in the development of insulin resistance, such as the nonesterified fatty acids, glycerol, hormones, cytokines, proinflammatory markers increased in obese individuals, (Al-Goblan, 2014). We as a nation can realistically prevent childhood obesity by inculcating healthy eating habits in our kids, making them eat less junk, more of fibrous fruits and vegetables, watching less TV and internet and being more physically active, reducing stress in life and having an adequate amount of sleep.
