Mania is a state of condition in which person has abnormally elevated mood which can be of happiness or sadness.

It is typically characterized by high energy levels, euphoria (feeling of well being) and elevated self esteem.

It is a type of bipolar disorder that includes emotional highs. In hypomania the symptoms are mild whereas in mania the are high.

Here mania excessive means hyperelevated mood, sometimes insomnia (loss of sleep), flight of ideas wherein they come and go rapidly. Increased irritability can also be seen.

Hypomania usually does not require hospitalization. A patient with mania news to be treated and hospitalized.

Anti psychotics and behaviour therapy needs to be given as a part of his treatment.
