Hint 1. The link between obesity and type 2 diabetesopened hint

Risk factors for developing type 2 diabetes include having a family member with type 2 diabetes, having a sedentary lifestyle, and obesity. How does obesity result in greater risk? One factor seems to be the inappropriate accumulation of lipids in muscle cells, liver cells, and insulin-producing cells of the pancreas. This inappropriate accumulation reduces the ability of the body cells to respond to insulin and results in insulin resistance, which over time can develop into type 2 diabetes. Lifestyle behaviors that help prevent excess fat accumulation and obesity help to reduce not only one’s risk for developing type 2 diabetes, but also can affect the degree of insulin resistance and severity of symptoms once someone has developed type 2 diabetes.

Hint 2. Carbohydrates and alcohol in the diet of individuals with diabetesopened hint

The fundamental issue for people with type 1 or type 2 diabetes is that the insulin/glucose transport system is somehow broken, resulting in abnormally high blood glucose levels. Because of this, individuals with diabetes are often counseled to monitor their carbohydrate intake because carbohydrates are broken down into glucose quickly after digestion. This does not necessarily mean that they need to avoid carbohydrates completely, but may mean that they need to limit the amount they consume over the entire day, or focus on consuming carbohydrates that are more slowly digested, such as those foods containing fiber. The appropriate approach will vary by individual.

Alcohol consumption can result in hypoglycemia—abnormally low blood sugar, a potentially dangerous state if not remedied. Interactions with diabetic medications can increase the risk for alcohol-induced hypoglycemia, so intake needs to be cautiously monitored on an individual basis.

A preventative measure for type 2 diabetes is to eat a healthful diet.
To help prevent type 2 diabetes, individuals should get regular physical activity.
Those with diabetes should limit alcoholic beverage intake.

Explanation:

Reducing of moderate weight loss improves insulin activity and glucose tolerance. Weight loss also helps to prevent the secondary complication of diabetes. Choosing a healthy diet like vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and avoid of high-fat food helps to prevent diabetes. Physical activity minimizes the risk of obesity and diabetes. Intake of alcohol interferes with diabetic medication results in an episode of hypoglycemia. So alcohol intake should be limited.

There is no need to completely cut off of carbohydrate in the diabetic patient. Limiting the intake of carbohydrates helps the diabetic patient. Type 1 diabetes is due to the defect of the pancreas. It can't be preventable.
