Research and EBP projects can be communicated in many ways. Which method do you think is most effective to get to the staff nurse level? To the advance practice nurses? How will you ensure that all appropriate audiences receive your information?
Research and EBP projects can be communicated in many ways. The most effective method to get this communicated to the staff nurse level to advanced practice nurse level is through proper channels of effective communication or strategic communication of research and EBP project results. Evidence-based practice (EBP) can be described as a problem-solving method of healthcare delivery that integrates the evidence or results obtained from studies along with patient care delivery data with healthcare professional expertise and patient values and preferences. EBP includes three necessary components; external evidence, internal evidence, and patient values and preferences, to improve results with the aim of enhancing the quality of life.
EBP leads to better quality care, better patient outcomes, greater nursing professional satisfaction, and reduced costs than the traditional approach to care. Despite these positive findings, many professionals are inconsistent in their implementation of EBP because of a lack of proper communication strategy. Other than this some professionals with outdated education, which predates EBP inclusion in their curriculum, still lack the computer/Internet skills required to implement EBP. This can be overcome by educating the senior professionals in computer/internet skills required for EBP implementation. Healthcare professionals can achieve targeted results for the patients through EBP, but they fail to share their experience with colleagues and healthcare organizations, which in turn leads to duplication of effort. There are several ways to disseminate research and EBP initiatives including institutional EBP rounds, local, regional, and national conference presentations, and reports in peer-reviewed journals, professional newsletters, and publications for general audiences.
Bridging the gap between research and practice is a challenge. Fostering awareness and interest in research and EBP can be used as a platform to aid nursing professionals to bridge this gap. Several effective knowledge translation strategies have been used as a tool to bridge this gap and in adopting and applying EBP. Communication‐based relationship building has an important role as an effective knowledge translation strategy. Goals, based on established channels for specific target groups, should be set, and willingness to embrace change in the organization should be encouraged among professionals to ensure that all appropriate audiences or target groups receive information.

Theory in Research and EBP If you were going to conduct a research study about factors that contribute to adolescents’ body image and self-esteem: 1. For what terms will you need conceptual and operational definitions? 2. What empirical indicators would be appropriate? 3. Can you identify an appropriate theoretical framework or model to use? 4. Do you expect to use a deductive, an inductive research, or mixed method approach? 5. What findings might you project? 6. How will your study contribute...
You are interested in nurses' attitudes toward EBP. Which method do you think would work best to obtain this information: a questionnaire, a face-to-face interview, or a group interview? Defend your answer.
Why do you think there are so many inconsistencies with practice authority among advance practice nurses across the fifty states and how can this impact patient care delivery?
What tasks or projects can you think of at an enterprise network that would be appropriate for a maintenance window? What preparation could you do for this change in advance of the maintenance window?
What types of improvement programs do you think are the most effective in health care? Engaging everyone individually in creatively identifying small, incremental improvements in the processes they work in on a daily basis Organization-wide "reengineering" such as new technology (EMR, robotic surgery, etc.) Small to medium (“Kaizen event”) projects that involve cross-disciplinary teams of staff, nurses, physicians, etc. in one department or function.
The internet is so vast in its knowledge and areas we can do research. Which website or area do you think many of your patients look at that you do not think is reputable?
Which ethical approach do you think is the most useful for nurses when they plan for or deal with a natural disaster, and why did you select that approach? Discuss some ways nurses can prevent developing moral distress when their personal decision-making processes conflict with the processes that must be used during times of disaster. Discuss how the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics provides guidance for nurses who respond to natural disaster.
Data collection is an important part of both quantitative and qualitative research. Although the actual approach to gathering information may vary, for either research design, researchers need to plan in advance how the data will be gathered, reported, and stored, and they need to ensure that their methods are both reliable and valid. As nurses review research when considering a new evidence-based practice, it is important to be familiar with sound collection practices in order to ascertain the credibility of...
