Basal metabolic rate (BMR) is defined as the rate at which the the body uses energy when you are resting in order to keep vital functions  going such as breathing The rate at which the body uses energy to breath and stay warm is an example of your basal metabolic rate.

WAYS TO INCREASE THE METABOLISAM

Drink more cold water

Eat plenty of protein rich food

Lift heavy things

Do high intensity workout

Drink green tea or oolong tea

Get a good night sleep

WAYS TO DECREASE THE BMR RATE

Set your daily calorie limit, you need to reduce your calorie intake below your total daily calorie requirement indicated by your BMR+ Activity level.
