1. Ethics in nursing plays a very crucial role and has a protective role towards securing the patient's interest and health. In given case Randy identifies Colleen googling patient information and gossiping about them to the staff around in the unit.

According to HIPPA and confidentiality act, it is duty lf the nurse to protect patient personal informarion and safeguard it and keep it confidential from every person. Gossiping regarding patient to other staff members is unethical.

As per duty of care it is duty of Randy, to talk to Colleen and make her understand what mistake she is making and how this has a negative impact on the quality of services and her own practice. Also, Randy should report this to higher authorities if Colleen does not listen to him and stop her habit of googling patients.
