Answer #1

Surgical Incisions Scars - Surgical incisions are incisions made on the skin when a surgery is performed. These are also called as surgical wound. Some incisions are small, others are long. The size of the incision depends on the kind of surgery you had. The impressions these incisions leave long after they are healed are know as surgical scars.

Injury scars - These are scars that are left behind after an injury has healed. These injuries could be caused by an accident.

The reasons why surgical incisions typically leave very small scars and fade while other injuries leave larger scars;

1) Surgical scars are well cared for when compared to injuries. Surgical scars are sutured where as injuries are not. The sutures minimise the formation of a scar.

2) Surgical scars are wrapped in proper bandages and follow-up dressing is done. This makes the skin heal properly and thus reduces the formation of a scar. Injuries on the other hand are wounds that have less attention when compared to surgical incisions and tend to leave large scars due to less skin care follow-up on the wound.
