DERMATITIS:

Dermatitis is a common condition that has many causes and occurs in many forms., in which the skin becomes red swollen and sore.It usually involves itchy, dry skin,or a rash on swollen reddened skin.

The genetics of dermatitis are not completely understood. studies suggest that several genes can be involved in development of the condition. In very rare cases atopic dermatitis is caused by inherited mutations in a single gene.

CAUSES

most type of dermatitis is likely related to

  • dry skin
  • gene variation
  • an immune system dysfunction
  • skin infection
  • exposure to food
  • airborne or contact allergens

Some type of dermatitis are easier to prevent than others.allergic and irritant contact dermatitis can be prevented by avoiding skin contact with the agents that cause the dermatitis.Avoid plated jewelry especially in your ears to prevent nickel related rashes.

My Neighbor is experiencing some sort of dermatitis symptoms in the skin.she explained with me regarding the symptoms.she practiced some sort of herbal treatment like Thulsi , Neem etc. she uses dettol while bathing.she uses coconut oil to treat infection as a home remedy. after that also she is not relieving from her symptoms.then she consulted a doctor and the doctor prescribed a corticosteroid cream.

NURSING CARE PLAN:

assessment findings:

  • assess the patient's warmth of the skin
  • color of the skin
  • lesions present should be assessed
  • texture of the skin
  • ask for itching sensation

  1. impaired skin integrity related to contact with irritants or allergens
  2. disturbed body image related to visible skin lesions
  3. risk for infection related to excoriations and breaks in the skin
  4. risk for impaired skin integrity related to frequent scratching and dry skin.

interventions:

1 Applying to the affected skin areas by certain creams or ointments that helps to reduce infection ,itching

2 avoid exposure to certain sea foods

3 encourage patient to bath in warm water using a mild soap then air dry the skin and gently pat to dry.
