Defense mechanism is basically the kind of behavior people show just to avoid any unpleasant thoughts or actions. There are various kinds of defense mechanism is seen such as projection, denial, displacement, regression, rationalization, etc. But the most common defense mechanism is Denial. This mechanism is seen frequently among people.

Why do you think this is the case?

The reason I think that denial is the most frequently used defense mechanism is because of the fact that people get this kind of behavior from their childhood itself where children deny any kind of mistakes they have done. Denial is basically the refusal to accept the fact or reality by blocking their minds. This is done to avoid any kind of emotional or painful impact on them.

How can you manage this type of reaction to a conflict?

There are various ways by which people show their reaction to a conflict. Denial is very unrealistic behavior which people show in a conflict just to avoid it. Denial is one of the most common conflict avoidance expression given by people. So, when someone show their denial behavior in a conflict, it is important to make him or her understand regarding the consequences very clearly because sometimes people does this because of their fear.
