Explain the data factors that drive information quality.
The five factors which affect the quality of data can be considered to be:
1. Completeness
This refers to the complete and actual representation of the data, we can say that gaps in data while collection or analysis can cause the quality of the data process to be degraded and therefore,
2. Consistency
The way the data will be recorded has to be consistent for all the values taken in order for the data to be usable in all its capacity. This would also mean that the expected data and the collected data should have minimal variances if the collection procedures were closely followed.
3. Accuracy
The fact that the data was accurate or not accurate in the first place determines the quality of the data. This is where the quality of the data collection process has less relevance and the quality for h data carrier more relevance since the nether implementation depends on it.
4. Validity
When we collect a data and when we use it, we should be able to verify and validate the data against set specific values in order for them to be considered valid and therefore, the data processor to not experience a drop in quality.
5. Timeliness
This would mean the correct time for the collection process and therefore the process of when the data is used. In easier terms, we can say that sensitive, variable and ever-changing data values would only prove to be good for the data process if they are used quickly while other factors can be used even after the initial period has passed.
