In marketing, how is trait theory different from Freudian and Neo-Freudian theories of personality? Please name and describe four specific personality traits that may be of interest to marketers and why.
There are some basic differences when we talk about Trait theory, Freudian Theory and Neo Freudian theory because trait theory is the study of human personality based on the study of various traits that deals with behavior, thoughts and emotion. On the other hand the Freudian theory of personality deals with theory of personality development which states that it is formed through conflicts among three basic structures of human mind, like the identity, ego and super ego and it is considered that childhood plays an important roie in this context because the behaviors are said to be result of childhood events. The neo Freudian theories stated that along with biological influences, as stated by Freud there are sociological and cultural influences as well, that plays an important role in this context.
The traits that are required in marketing and is almost mandatory are:
1. Communication - It is the key because no plan can be executed successful without proper and effective communication, hence this needs to be fulfilled at every aspect.
2. Team Work - The individual needs to be capable enough to understand the importance of teamwork and work towards it because without teamwork it becomes difficult to achieve or accomplish any tasks.
3. Creativity - Marketing industry and the profession requires innovation and creativity so that the marketing plan is different and unique and is attractive because the level of competition is very high and organizations need to be different.
4. Analytical Skills - in order to monitor and review the aspects of the business it is important to possess analytical skills so that it is ensured that the objective is in track.
