In pea plant experiment, pea plants were grown over 12 days in dark conditions and 12 days in light conditions. After comparing the average dry weights over the 12 days it seemed the dark plants on average had a higher dry weight than the plants grown in light conditions. why would this be?

Answer #1

The reason behind this is that dry weight is consumed more rapidly in light than in darkness. This is probably happened because of more rapid growth and slightly greater amounts of respiring tissue in light-grown plants.

Question 16 4 One of Mendel's famous genetics experiment involved growing many generations of pea plants and tracking the traits of pea color and blossom color. Suppose the results of one of these experiments resulted with 428 plants with green peas, and 152 with yellow peas. For that experiment, he considered the 99% confidence interval estimate for the proportion of offspring peas that were green. Find the high end of the confidence interval estimate for p. question 1 1. Your experiment used the decolorization of DCPIP to indirectly measure rates of photosynthesis in the isolated chloroplasts. Why does this work? To answer this, first provide a detailed description of the Linear Electron Flow pathway as it occurs in chloroplasts, and then explain what part of this pathway actually decolorizes DCPIP and why this only occurs when light is shining on the chloroplasts. Feel free to research this before answering. Provide the URL of any source(s) you...

In Data 4.1 on page 258, we examine a study in which mice were randomly assigned to either a normal light/dark cycle or to have a light on around the clock. According to the paper describing that study, "The global increase in the prevalence of obesity and metabolic disorders coincides with the increase of exposure to light at night." The study is examining whether light at night plays a causal role in the obesity epidemic. In Data 4.1, we examine...
