It is essential for an organisation to have a code of ethics. A code of ethics would typically consist of guiding principles which all the employees must adhere to while interacting professionally and socially - internally as well as externally.

Following are some examples of principles included in the code of ethics:

  1. Integrity and honesty
  2. Proper professional behavior
  3. Respect for self and other individuals
  4. Confidentiality of sensitive information and documents
  5. Customer-oriented approach
  6. No differentiation or bias
  7. Commitment towards work and service to customers

Code of ethics In brief, this forms the foundation of a successful organization and promotes healthy relationships within and outside the organization. They are incorporated deeply into the organization. They become culturally engraved in the employees.

A supervisor should be instrumental in driving the code of ethics into the veins of sub-ordinates. Making them understand the importance of adhering the principles and promoting team spirit. Also, he can motivate his team members to do work with utmost honesty and put in their best efforts in fulfilling the allotted tasks. He should act as a motivator and a inspiration to his team-mates. Also, have a regular check on the inter-teams relations and facilitate healthy environment.
