  • There is a difference between experiment and correlation.Experiment relates to cause and effect relationship and correlation relates to dependence of one variable over another which necessarily is not cause and effect.Its not necessary that one variable causes another variable in correlation.
  • Correlation is actually a mutual connection between two variables,whereas causation is relationship between cause and effect.When a particular cause leads to effect its causation.
  • Causation means one event is the result of occurrence of another event.
  • Correlation doesnt imply causation means that correlation between variables indicates a simple relationship and does not necessarily means that one causes another.
  • Example-Smoking is correlated with alcoholism,but its not necessary that it causes alcoholism,whereas smoking does increases the causation or risk of lung cancer.
