We can say that a large number of interviews follow a standard procedure where the individuals are either brought together as a group of individuals to see how they collaborate and cooperate or show nonconformity towards the “mob mentality.”
I had a bad experience with one of my previous interviews where the supervisor caught me off guard with a few questions that I never anticipated or prepared for. With my experience so far, I can recommend the following points to be kept in mind if one appeared for an interview process:
1. Be “available” not a “nuisance.”
It was an observation I made where the examiner only interacted
with individuals that weren't acting overly excited, strange or
standoffish. It became clear that companies look for participation
and interaction, not a contest.
2. Dress to impress
While it is not the only thing that matters, we should still value
our first impressions from our dressing to the way we address
everybody. Discipline, empathy, understanding and being polite are
the key here, and I would make sure to follow the same in my other
interviews.
3. Be ready to discuss your weaknesses.
It is the context I was going for in the beginning. The supervisor
caught me off guard when I was asked how would I address my
weaknesses and work with them and not around them. I was unprepared
to address my weakness cause, like everybody, I focused on my
strengths. But, this is not the thing companies look for in an
individual. Everybody can have several advantages and weakness;
it's how they work around it that matters to them. It is therefore
beneficial to be able to address what your weaknesses are and how
you plan to overcome them.
