The dry density is on the y axis and water content on the x- axis.The optimum water content and maximum dry density correspond to the peak of the black curve here.So OMC is 15.5% and maximum dry density is 1.78 g/cm3. So option (b) is the correct answer. Why 1.78g/cm3 ? Because 1.78 KN/m3 is not in the normal range of dry density of soils.
