Answer #1

iPhone, social media (you tube, facebook), internet -

If I were not using this ICT, how else could I send and receive information - There are various traditional ways to send and receive information like sending and receiving information via telephone (landlines) or via fax where one can send information through text and the other party can receive the information through print of the text on paper. There can be a physical exchange of information via letters (postal) and telegrams.

What can I do to improve self-awareness and relationship management through ICTs? - One can integrate ICTs in the process of learning, by working on processing of information. You can also use the information to evaluate, arrange and learn from the information flow coming towards you. The universal access of quality learning and professional development, and getting a more comprehensive and holistic approach towards ICTs can help improve awareness and relationship management through ICTs. With the internet revolution, comes a new type of team which is the distributed or virtual team that can communicate throughout the world. However, this lacks trust due to no physical contact and makes it difficult to build strong relationships. The willingness to being vulnerable based on belief or actions of the other are the key here.

What do I gain in interpersonal communication from ICTs and what do I lose? - In the interpersonal communication from ICTs, we both gain and lose control over the interpersonal relationships. The advances in information technology has made so much information available to the users and make them obsessed about the social media as they communicate in a new way and it allows to communicate to the whole world; that is the biggest gain in interpersonal communication. The uses of jargons make it lose the intrinsic meaning, and then the emotional barriers are there due to non face to face contact. One tends to lose the interest, attention and gets distracted at times due to irrelevance to the receiver.
