Explanation : Myelin greatly increases the speed of nerve impulse conduction/communication between two neurons by electrically insulating the axons of neurons.

Neuroglial cells or glial cells are involved in the myelination of neurons both in central and peripheral nervous system. But the cells are called by different names. Oligodendrocytes are the myelinating cells in the CNS whereas, schwann cells myelinates neurons in the PNS.

Importance of myelination is illustrated by multiple sclerosis; a disease that results from the gradual deterioration of myelin sheath that surrounds the axons in various parts of the nervous system. Manifestations of the disease includes weakness in their hands, difficulty in walking, progressive muscular dysfunction.
