Answer #1

Answer 3.

X-Ray diffraction work of Franklin and Wilkins shows that DNA is a double helix.

It revealed the structural information about DNA that DNA forms a helix, composed of two strands, twists every 34 Angstroms and the phosphate groups are on the outside. All the structural features of DNA were revealed by this experiment.

Chargaff discovered that the A-T bond has the same width as the G-C bond. What implication does this have for the structure of the DNA molecule? It means that the molecule will vary in width as you move down its length, depending on the number of A-T and G-C nucleotides. It means that the molecule will be very hydrophilic, because nucleotides are hydrophilic. It means that DNA was the first life form on Earth. It means that the molecule will...

Question 1 1 pts Why is it important for DNA to have complementary base pairing? O Complementary base pairing allows base pairs to be packed in the most energetically favorable arrangement inside of the double helix structure. O Complementary base pairing will pair a purine with a purine, which are a similar width, thus they are able to hold the sugar-phosphate backbone an equal distance apart along the DNA molecule o Complementary base pairing is only important for maintaining the...
