One of the most important reasons the boy would become friends with Trisha is because of her physiology because opposite sex attracts each other. Thus, if the boy is attracted towards her physical appearance, the boy may become friends with her. Secondly, the situational fact that they study together and the chances that they would be able to meet often and share things would help the boy develop a friendship with her.
