Question

An electrical engineer must design a circuit to deliver the maximum amount of current to a display tube to achieve sufficient image brightness. Within her allowable design constraints, she has developed two candidate circuits and test prototypes of each. The resulting data (in microamperes) are as follows:

248 Circuit 1: 251 Circuit 2: 250 255 253 258 249 257 256 250 259 251 252 254 260 250 251

Test for evidence that the first circuit can deliver a higher current that circuit 2 using a 5% level.

You may assume that the populations are normal for this problem.

Answer #1

Let 111, 112 denote mean current in first circuit and second circuit respectively.

Hypotheses : To test null hypothesis HV - = 0 against alternative hypothesis H1 H1-H2 > 0 This is a one tailed right sided te

There is sufficient evidence to support the claim that the first circuit can deliver a higher current that circuit 2.
