1. Ensure questions are legal - In an interview asking certain questions can be discriminatory that is asking questions related to age, sex, race, color, national origin, religion, and questions related to sexual orientation must also be avoided.

For eg

Do you have any disabilities i should be aware of - wrong question

Are you able to perform all of the job duties for this position - correct question

Thats an interesting accent where are you from- wrong

Are you authorized to work in the US - correct

2. Focus on the interview

The interviewer must make sure that he is completely engaged with the candidate that is putting away laptop, mobile phone and other distractions and he must be an active listener

For example attending some call in between the interview and asking the candidate to repeat the answer will create a negative impression about the interviewer and even the company.

3. Include all stakeholders- For an effective interview utilize all the staff who is able to interact with the particular position as panel members and also provide buy-in from stakeholders and allows their participation, the process must be completely transparent.

For example, participating all the stakeholder can change the structure of interview and there are chances to get new ideas which may be end up a new experience for the interviewee

4. Ensurw interview isnt too short or long- Its not the number of questions but the quality of the questions really matters and give enough time for the candidate to answer.
