Interview is one of the crucial aspects of selection and getting response for a research related works. Experienced people should be given responsibility when research responses are to be recorded. There are many methods of taking and conducting interview. Now we shall discuss in brief only four of them,
1) Face to face interview:
In this, an interviewer will record response from an interviewee. There may be various purposes of such interviewee. It can be designed with open as well as closed type of interviewee. Structured as well as semi structured questions may be put in this kind of interview. An open question may offer more insights but limited value or subject related information where as a structured or closed question may restrict interviewee to provide a contextual answer. It is quite effective when someone want to collect qualitative data .
2) Telephonic interview:
In this, mobile phones, fixed phones etc, may be used to talk the prospective respondents. It is cost effective method when respondent are residing in a remote location. Say, a company and its interviewer are in Newyork and want to collect information from Huston. It may fail to collect information related to body language of the respondents. It can be offer speedy response collection. Actual involvement of respondents’ may be beneficial for survey.
3) Focus Group:
In this type of interview, a group of selected people will be chosen as respondents for research and other purposes. An experienced person will be suitable to get respondents. He will transcribe limited valuable information from such group of people. It may be useful for cross sectional study but many times same respondents will not be available when valuable information to be collected.
4) Online interview:
In the age of internet, Companies and individuals are using video methods to talk the respondents and candidates seeking job. It cut cost and time of interview and selection method. It provides more realistic feeling to interviewer. Currently, it seems more beneficial when whole world is facing challenges from Covid 19 , Pandemic.
