Chloroquine is a class of antimalarial drugs.

It is mainly used to prevent and treat malaria

The other uses include:

1. To treat liver infection caused by protozoa

2. Chloroquine sulphate is used to treat rheumatoid arthritis to decrease it's symptoms

3. To treat systemic lupus erythymatos and sarcoidosis.

In the present situation the use of hydroxychloroquine in the treatment of covid-19 is not officially recommended.
